16 km from Durban to Umhlanga, for SAAMBR
A 16-kilometre open-water swim raising funds for SAAMBR's turtle hospital and ocean education work - aiming for the first officially ratified crossing of the route. Presented by GoReefers, who are pledging R1,000 for every kilometre swum.
Her initiative
Swim for Hope.
Carina founded Swim for Hope to merge extreme swimming with advocacy — daring solo crossings of some of the world's most treacherous waterways, each turned into a fundraiser for children affected by cancer, abuse and inequality.
Hundreds of thousands of rands have been raised through direct and partnered campaigns, with media features amplifying those messages around the world.
